Derek Gores from Florida is famed for his collage portrait series made from recycled magazines, labels and found materials. Influenced by Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele and Max Ernst, he says he isn’t interested in heavy concepts. Some pieces used have relevance to the image, others don’t. His art reflects the way in which the mind can’t help but wander, even when trying to focus on one thing. “I trust randomness to help build an end result more interesting than I could have planned.”
